Bahrain Chairs Meeting of GCC Tourism Undersecretaries

Manama: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Sara Ahmed Buhiji, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), chaired the meeting of Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries responsible for tourism in the GCC countries. The meeting was held virtually as part of the preparations for the 10th meeting of the Committee of GCC Tourism Ministers.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting discussed several topics on the agenda, including joint Gulf efforts to strengthen the tourism sector across the GCC countries and follow-up on the implementation of initiatives and programmes related to the tourism sector support plan. These included joint tourism promotion, media initiatives, and the development of the GCC Tourism Data Dashboard.

The meeting also reviewed joint promotional programmes and marketing campaigns, the exchange of expertise and knowledge in tourism statistics and data, the unified tourism guide licence across the GCC countries, the Gulf Tourism Capital initiative, international cooperation in the tourism sector, joint tourism activities and events, and the guidelines for hotel classification.
