Bahrain Chairs GCC Labour Undersecretaries Meeting

Manama:His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, chaired a remote meeting of the GCC Labour Undersecretaries. This meeting was held as part of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the GCC Supreme Council, in preparation for the 12th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Labour.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalifa emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to regulate labour markets in GCC countries, establishing the Gulf common market, and expanding quality employment opportunities for GCC citizens in the private sector. He noted that the GCC Ministers of Labour Committee's 2024-2029 strategy aims to create integrated frameworks and policies to support the development and integration of labour markets across GCC countries.

The meeting also addressed agenda items focused on developing joint Gulf labour cooperation, following up on the implementation of decisions made by the GCC Ministers of Labour Committee, and coordinating positions at Arab and international forums.

Participants reviewed the progress of initiatives under the committee's 2024-2029 strategy, discussed regulating work in the platform economy, and examined the main challenges facing Gulf labour markets and possible solutions.

Additionally, the meeting covered the exchange of expertise and the benefits of specialized initiatives in youth training to accelerate their integration into Gulf labour markets.
