Manama: During the fourth meeting of the Bahrain-Saudi Coordination Council, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain and the Saudi Railway Polytechnic (SRP).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoU was signed by Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, on behalf of Bahrain, and by Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Falih, Minister of Investment, on behalf of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed stated that the MoU reflects the integrated vision shared by the two countries and highlights the joint commitment to enhancing human capacities and developing transport systems, particularly in the railway sector, which is seeing growth in the region.
He noted that the agreement will support the development of national competencies through specialised training programmes provided by SRP, leveraging its expertise in operating, maintaining, and managing railway systems. This initiative aims to strengthen the readiness of national personnel and support future railway projects' requirements.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed further mentioned that the cooperation is an important step in enhancing technical and knowledge coordination between the two sides. It acts as a key support for GCC connectivity and integration projects, reflecting the ministry's commitment to building strategic partnerships that develop the transport and logistics sector and create further opportunities for innovation and advancement, in line with the directives of the leadership in both countries.
