Manama:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Dr. Nils Schmid, the Parliamentary State Secretary to the German Federal Minister of Defence, during the 22nd IISS Manama Dialogue 2026.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussion focused on the longstanding friendship between Bahrain and Germany and explored ways to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting also addressed regional developments, particularly concerns over disruptions to maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The two officials discussed the implications of these disruptions on energy and food supplies, the global economy, and international trade. They further exchanged views on regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and maintaining regional security and stability.
