Manama: Counsellor Wael Rashid Buallay, Senior Advocate General and Assistant Attorney General, led the 17th meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) assistant attorneys general and prosecutors, conducted via videoconference. Representing the Public Prosecution of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the meeting was Counsellor Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi, First Advocate General and Head of Judicial Inspection.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Counsellor Buallay highlighted the significance of reinforcing collaboration and coordination among the public prosecution and prosecutorial authorities across GCC countries. The emphasis was on integrating efforts and sharing expertise to enhance the efficiency of prosecutorial work, address challenges effectively, and serve the collective interests of the GCC nations.
The meeting addressed several agenda items, including a proposal from Bahrain's Public Prosecution to establish guidelines for utilizing artificial intelligence in prosecutorial work. It also considered the development of cooperative rules among GCC public prosecution bodies, the establishment of a Gulf mechanism for forming joint investigation teams, and the updating of unified international cooperation templates.
Additionally, the meeting showcased notable prosecutorial experiences, such as Bahrain's efforts in combating human trafficking, focusing on justice administration and victim protection. The assistant attorneys general and public prosecutors put forward their recommendations and proposals on the discussed agenda items for consideration at the upcoming 18th meeting of Attorneys General and Public Prosecutors, scheduled for next October.
