Ambassador to Italy Participates in GCC Meeting with Italian Parliament on Regional Security

Rome: Osama bin Abdullah Al Absi, Ambassador to the Italian Republic, joined a significant meeting at the Italian Chamber of Deputies in Rome, where he collaborated with Ambassadors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The session also saw participation from the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Italy and members of the Chamber of Deputies' Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, led by Giulio Tremonti, Chairman of the Committee.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the ambassadors examined recent regional developments, focusing on the Iranian attacks that have affected several countries in the area. These attacks, involving missiles and drones targeting civilian infrastructure, were condemned by the GCC countries as violations of international law and principles of the United Nations Charter.

The ambassadors highlighted the expanding scope of these attacks, which now threaten a growing number of countries in the region. They emphasized the potential global economic repercussions, including impacts on supply chain security and energy markets.

The GCC ambassadors asserted their right to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity under Article 51 of the UN Charter. They stressed the Gulf region's strategic role in global energy market stability and international navigation security.

Members of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee of Italy's Chamber of Deputies condemned the attacks on GCC states, expressing solidarity and support. They highlighted the strong Italy-GCC relations, further illustrated by the presence of numerous Italian citizens in the GCC region.

Chairman Tremonti and committee members assured support for GCC security and stability, indicating Italy's readiness to aid in maintaining their sovereignty when needed. The committee also emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement and international coordination to manage the crisis and prevent further escalation. They reaffirmed the Middle East as a key partner and advocated for dialogue to promote peace and stability in the region.
