Cairo: Fawzia Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, participated in the 29th ordinary session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information, held in Cairo.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Zainal underscored Bahrain's support for joint Arab action in the domains of communications and information technology. She emphasized the importance of coordination, exchange of expertise, and the development of policies supporting digital transformation and sustainable development.
She announced Bahrain's renewed candidacy for membership of the International Telecommunication Union Council and confirmed Bahrain's support for the nomination of Adel Mohammed Darwish for the post of Deputy Secretary-General of the Union.
The meeting reviewed several agenda items, including regional digital development plans for 2026-2029, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, combating cybercrime, artificial intelligence initiatives, capacity building, and coordination of Arab positions in regional and international forums.
Participants underlined the need to intensify joint Arab efforts to keep pace with technological developments and strengthen digital integration across the region.
