Abu dhabi: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Arab Emirates, received several Pacific Island ambassadors accredited to the UAE, including the ambassadors of Tonga, Fiji, Tuvalu, and Timor-Leste. Ambassador Al Khalifa welcomed the ambassadors and highlighted the growing relations between Bahrain and the Pacific Island countries, based on longstanding cooperation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting reviewed bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation across various fields. The participants also exchanged views on regional developments, the repercussions of the Iranian attacks against Bahrain, GCC member states, and Jordan, and the impact of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on international navigation, the global economy, and energy and food supplies, as well as efforts to preserve regional security and stability.
The ambassadors presented Ambassador Al Khalifa with a diplomatic note affirming their governments' full and steadfast support for Bahrain and condemning the Iranian attacks, which endanger civilian lives and constitute violations of international law and the UN Charter and threats to state sovereignty and regional security and stability.
They also affirmed their countries' solidarity with Bahrain, noting their co-sponsorship of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) and continued support for Bahrain's initiatives at the Security Council and the UN General Assembly, while emphasizing the importance of respecting state sovereignty and international law.
Ambassador Al Khalifa expressed his appreciation for the ambassadors' solidarity and support, affirming Bahrain's commitment to further strengthening its close relations and cooperation with the Pacific Island nations.
