Manama: The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture received an award under the Arab Government Excellence Award 2025 for a community initiative that provides agricultural training to participants from various segments of society. The award was presented during a ceremony held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with senior officials from the United Arab Emirates, the Arab League, and participating Arab countries in attendance.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the award was received by Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, who said the initiative supports national efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote sustainable agricultural practices. He noted the ministry's cooperation with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), which has supported programs aimed at empowering community members, enhancing the role of Bahraini farmers, and developing the sector's infrastructure in line with sustainability and food security goals.
The initiative has trained more than 2,000 participants, including retirees, home-based producers, university students, and persons with disabilities. It offers practical training in areas such as greenhouse cultivation, organic farming, food processing, and hydroponics, contributing to greater agricultural awareness and creating sustainable production opportunities.
