SCE Introduces Automatic Renewal for Chemical Licences

Manama:The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) has enhanced its licence renewal service for internationally controlled chemicals by implementing an automatic renewal process for licences that satisfy the necessary conditions.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the updated service cuts the processing time from 20 working days to automatic completion. It also reduces the number of required documents by 50% and the service-level agreement (SLA) timeframe by 25%. The service is now fully electronic, simplifying procedures, improving user experience, and standardizing service information across all channels.

Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, SCE Chief Executive Officer, stated that the development boosts regulatory efficiency, enhances service quality, and speeds up licence renewals while maintaining oversight and ensuring Bahrain's compliance with its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention. Licensed establishments can renew their environmental licences annually, provided they meet the Council's requirements. The SCE will continue to develop its digital services to improve efficiency and facilitate access for beneficiaries.

This development is part of ongoing government efforts to improve public services and streamline procedures. Over 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 currently being developed and re-engineered across various sectors. These efforts are informed by feedback obtained through the Tawasul National Suggestions and Complaints System, investor feedback, and mystery shopper reports.
