Accra:The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf has upgraded the minor settlement data update service to become fully digital and proactive, aligning with government initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the revamped service is part of the Minor Affairs Sector and allows minors nearing the age of majority, or their guardians, to update personal details, contact information, bank accounts, and asset ownership records in preparation for settlement procedures and receiving entitlements.
The upgrade has significantly reduced the completion time from six to three working days, halved the number of required documents, shortened the service-level agreement by at least 25%, and enabled complete digital processing. It also improved user interface and experience, simplified processes, reduced necessary approvals by 25%, and standardized information across all channels, with application forms now available electronically.
Noor Ibrahim Al Hajri, Head of the Minor Affairs and Funds Service Centre, emphasized the aim to simplify and enhance efficiency through expanded proactive and electronic services. The service is now accessible via Bahrain's National Portal, bahrain.bh, eliminating the need for physical visits. Notifications are sent in advance to relevant parties before minors reach the age of majority, allowing early preparation for settlement procedures.
As part of broader efforts to improve public services, over 1,300 government services have been documented and translated, with 800 undergoing development and re-engineering. These efforts have incorporated feedback from the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), investor input, and mystery shopper evaluations, introducing service guides and agreements aimed at boosting efficiency and service quality while advancing digital transformation.
