Royal Address by HM King Outlines Bahrain’s National Roadmap

Manama:His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's recent Royal Address at the opening of the fifth session of the sixth legislative term of Bahrain's Shura Council and the Council of Representatives has been described as a national roadmap for the country's future.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Ali bin Mohamed Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), highlighted the address as setting national priorities such as safeguarding Bahrain's security and sovereignty, advancing sustainable development, preserving national unity, and strengthening cooperation among constitutional authorities.

Dr. Al Rumaihi emphasized HM the King's call for substantive achievements in the current legislative session. This call places a significant responsibility on the legislative authority to convert royal aspirations into laws and legislation that fulfill citizens' needs and support Bahrain's progress.

He also noted the importance of modernising economic legislation, enhancing the competitiveness of the investment environment, and expanding the knowledge economy. These priorities, along with supporting energy sustainability, environmental protection, and food and water security, necessitate continued cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities.

Dr. Al Rumaihi commended HM the King's acknowledgment of the Government's efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in maintaining service continuity, addressing the repercussions of Iranian attacks, and balancing stability with development needs.

He praised the recognition of the defence and security forces for their role in protecting Bahrain and His Majesty's commitment to developing their capabilities further. The declaration of June 1 as the "Day of Pledge and Loyalty" was also noted, reflecting the unity and resilience of Bahrain's people.

Furthermore, Dr. Al Rumaihi highlighted the significance of designating the coming year as the "Year of Isa bin Salman," allowing future generations to learn about the legacy of the late His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

The Royal Address also reaffirmed Bahrain's security and stability as closely linked to its ties within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and international partnerships. It underscored Bahrain's role in promoting peace and dialogue, as well as its diplomatic achievements in international arenas, such as leading efforts for the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).

Dr. Al Rumaihi stressed the importance of proactive planning and institutional integration in shaping Bahrain's future Economic Vision to align development and sustainability with citizens' aspirations. The principles outlined in the Royal Address support BIPD's mission to promote constitutional awareness, political culture, and community participation in Bahrain.
