Manama:The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) took part in the fifth regular meeting of heads of space agencies from member states of the Artemis Accords, convened alongside the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2026 in Trkiye.
According to Bahrain News Agency, high-level discussions at the meeting focused on the group's key priorities, reviewing the efforts of its main working groups following a previous workshop in Peru, and identifying ways to bolster cooperation among member states.
The BSA was represented by CEO Dr. Mohammed Ebrahim Al Aseeri and Space Engineer Yaqoob Al Qassab. Dr. Al Aseeri shared Bahrain's proposals to enhance collaboration among members and provided comments on several working papers from other states. The agency also offered legal insights on new initiatives and assessed the group's current and prospective projects aligned with its principles.
Dr. Al Aseeri highlighted that the Artemis Accords comprise 76 member states, many with deep expertise in the space sector, contributing valuable technologies and data for joint ventures. Bahrain's participation supports its strategic goals and the development of a sustainable national space sector.
Bahrain joined the Artemis Accords in March 2022 as the 17th member, facilitating new opportunities for international collaboration in space science. The Artemis Accords, launched in 2020, provide a framework for the governance of civil space exploration, promoting sustainable use of space for humanity's benefit.
