University of Bahrain Board of Trustees Holds Fourth Meeting of 2026

Manama:The Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain convened for its fourth regular meeting of 2026, led by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the board praised the university's significant advancement in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, where it moved to the 801-1000 band globally, a leap from the 1001-1200 band the previous year, marking an improvement of 285 places.

The university maintained its position in the 101-200 band globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026, securing seventh place worldwide for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17, Partnerships for the Goals, and 23rd place for SDG 4, Quality Education. Furthermore, it rose to 275th place globally in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, competing among 2,500 universities.

The board stressed the necessity of continuing to enhance partnerships with international institutions that specialize in university rankings to further advance and lead both regionally and globally.

Additionally, the board was updated on the latest developments in the university's improvement projects, including their implementation stages and progress in upgrading infrastructure, academic facilities, and services.

A review was also conducted on faculty scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year, the results of the admissions cycle for 2026-2027, and new academic programs introduced at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. The board also discussed the Audit and Finance Committee's report.

Dr. Juma highlighted the University of Bahrain's status as the Kingdom's leading national university, recognized for its academic performance, reliable outcomes, and high-quality learning environment. He expressed gratitude to the academic and administrative staff for their efforts in advancing institutional operations and implementing policies that support the university's objectives.
