Abha:The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia reported that Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport were the targets of two separate attacks on October 6 and 7. These incidents prompted an immediate response from emergency teams and relevant authorities following established procedures and emergency plans.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the attack on Abha International Airport led to the deaths of two women from Morocco and Algeria. Additionally, 28 individuals sustained injuries, including Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident, and a Filipino resident, with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of a Sudanese resident and injuries to eight others, including five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and a Pakistani resident. As with the first attack, the injuries varied in severity.
All those injured were promptly taken to hospitals for medical treatment. The attacks also caused material damage at both airports. GACA stated that it is working closely with security authorities to assess the damage and implement measures to ensure the safety of passengers and staff, as well as to maintain the security of the Kingdom's civil aviation system.
