Saudi Arabia Reaches Gulf Cup Final After Penalty Shootout Victory Over Qatar

Accra:Saudi Arabia's national football team has secured a place in the final of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 27) following a penalty shootout win over Qatar. The match, held at Alinma Stadium in Saudi Arabia, ended in a goalless draw after regular and extra time, with over 51,000 spectators in attendance.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Saudi team triumphed 3-2 in the penalty shootout. The game featured persistent attacking efforts from Saudi Arabia, while Qatar's goalkeeper, Mahmoud Abunada, made several impressive saves. Additionally, Qatar came close to scoring with a powerful shot that hit the post in the final minutes of the second half.

The match progressed to penalties after neither side managed to score during extra time. Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais played a critical role in the shootout, ensuring his team's progression to the final.

Saudi Arabia, which has won the Gulf Cup three times previously, will compete against the winner of the semi-final match between the United Arab Emirates and Oman, which is set to occur later.
