GCC Finance Leaders Meet with IMF Director in Bahrain

Manama:Khalid Ibrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, joined the joint meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The meeting took place under the theme "Economic Prospects and Policy Challenges: Enhancing Resilience to Geopolitical Shocks."

According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was held alongside the 126th GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee meeting. This annual gathering provides a platform for Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from GCC states to meet senior IMF officials, discussing regional economic developments, policy priorities, and exploring ways to enhance regional integration and cooperation with the IMF.

Humaidan contributed as a lead speaker in a roundtable discussion, focusing on the potential of digital assets to improve the efficiency of cross-border payments and financial transfers. He also highlighted the role of digital assets in supporting financial innovation and the development of capital markets, stressing the importance of strong regulatory and supervisory frameworks to ensure financial stability.
