Kuala Lumpur:Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Mana, Ambassador to Malaysia, attended the launch ceremony of Gulf Air's operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The event coincided with Malaysia's preparations to host the Bahrain Gulf Air Formula 1 Grand Prix.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ceremony was also attended by Dato Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah, Deputy Minister of Transport of Malaysia; Shazril bin Zahiran, Ambassador of Malaysia to Bahrain; Khalid Hussain Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air; and Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air.
Ambassador Al Mana highlighted that the resumption of direct Gulf Air flights between Manama and Kuala Lumpur serves as a crucial connection between the two countries, which have maintained diplomatic relations since 1974.
He mentioned that this week is significant for Bahrain-Malaysia relations due to three major developments: the resumption of Gulf Air flights, Malaysia hosting the Bahrain Gulf Air Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit, and the opening of the new Embassy of Bahrain in Kuala Lumpur.
These events, he added, demonstrate the growing cooperation between Bahrain and Malaysia in various sectors including aviation, trade, investment, tourism, sports, and diplomacy.
