Manama:A defendant has been sentenced by the High Criminal Court to 10 years in prison and fined BD 2,000 for endorsing Iranian terrorist attacks against Bahrain. The court also ordered the confiscation of the phone used in the crime.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the conviction followed a report from the Cybercrime Directorate at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, which monitored images, videos, and comments on a social media account that encouraged attacks on Bahrain. The defendant was identified as the account operator.
The Public Prosecution conducted a thorough investigation, which included interrogating the defendant, hearing witness statements, and assigning technical experts to examine seized electronic devices. The investigation confirmed the defendant's involvement, leading to his referral to the High Criminal Court. The court proceedings were conducted with all legal safeguards, including the right to defense, before reaching a verdict.
