Manama:Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Telecommunications at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, chaired the 32nd meeting of the Committee for Undersecretaries of Post and Telecommunications in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which was held via videoconference. The meeting included Dr. Khalid Abdulrahman Al Haidan, Assistant Undersecretary for Postal Affairs, and representatives from Bahrain's telecommunications and postal sectors, as well as delegates from other member states and the GCC General Secretariat.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting emphasized the significance of supporting joint GCC actions and enhancing coordination and integration within the postal and telecommunications sectors. This cooperation aims to improve service efficiency, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and keep pace with rapid sector developments.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa highlighted the importance of continued GCC collaboration in response to rapid changes in user needs and the expansion of digital services and e-commerce. He stressed the need to leverage shared expertise to improve service quality and efficiency.
The meeting also focused on advancing joint GCC initiatives by setting priorities and identifying impactful projects with clear implementation frameworks. This approach aims to strengthen integration among GCC countries and address future needs in postal and telecommunications sectors.
Topics discussed included developing legislative and regulatory frameworks, infrastructure readiness, emergency response coordination, and improved connectivity among GCC countries. In the postal sector, discussions covered developing services and products, business continuity, and supporting e-commerce through enhanced parcel movement and delivery channels.
