Manama:His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who holds several prominent positions including First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, was present at the opening ceremony of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, known as "Khaleeji 27," in Saudi Arabia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid emphasized the significance of the Arabian Gulf Cup in Gulf sports history, highlighting it as a longstanding event that fosters camaraderie and fair competition among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He described the tournament as a reflection of the ties, history, and common bonds shared by the GCC peoples, contributing significantly to the development of Gulf football and producing many prominent players and lasting memories.
He also praised Saudi Arabia for its exceptional arrangements and capabilities, which are crucial for the success of the 27th edition of the tournament. Shaikh Khalid acknowledged Saudi Arabia's extensive experience and organizational expertise in hosting various sporting events and competitions.
His Highness extended his best wishes to Saudi Arabia for the successful organization of the tournament and expressed hopes for strong technical performances from all participating national teams, demonstrating the progress of Gulf football.
