Riyadh: Major General Turki Al Malki, Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, announced that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards Riyadh early Saturday.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Major General Al Malki stated that the Houthi militia's increase in aggression and persistent attempts to target civilians and civilian structures in Riyadh, a city home to over eight million people, highlights its ongoing deliberate and systematic targeting of non-military entities. This statement was reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Major General Al Malki further revealed that the Houthi militia also aimed to attack civilians and civilian infrastructures in Baish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu. However, all these attempts were successfully thwarted by the air defence systems.
Emphasizing the Coalition Command's stance, Major General Al Malki affirmed their right to take suitable actions under international humanitarian law and its customary rules to deter the hostile actions of the Houthi militia.
