The us national aeronautics and space administration (nasa): announced the discovery of a recently formed crater on the Moon, believed to be the largest of its kind detected in the solar system.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the crater, named McGetchin, is about 222 metres wide and is believed to have formed in spring 2024 when a comet or asteroid struck the Moon.
It was identified in images captured by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). A study published in Science Advances said the discovery could help researchers better understand lunar geology.
