Manama: The General Secretariat of the Shura Council held a demonstration session on the legislative system available through the Council's upgraded website (SHURA.BH), coinciding with the International Day of Democracy. The session introduced the system's advanced digital tools for tracking and documenting the Council's legislative work since 2002 and facilitating broader and clearer access to legislative information. It was attended by undersecretaries, judges, officials, representatives of 20 entities and institutions concerned with legislative, judicial, legal, academic and training affairs, and media professionals.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the legislative system was presented as the first smart project for automating legislative work in the Arab world. The session also covered its objectives, components and mechanisms, as well as its digital services and solutions using modern technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance the experience of searching, browsing, and accessing legislative information.
Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, affirmed that the demonstration session, aimed at legislative, judicial, legal and academic entities, forms part of efforts to promote access to legislative knowledge and strengthen its presence in institutional, academic and legal environments through innovative means. She noted that the initiative keeps pace with Bahrain's continued digital development, under the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, within Team Bahrain's integrated national efforts to use modern technologies to enhance government and institutional efficiency and develop services provided to citizens, institutions and various segments of society.
Al Abbasi explained that the legislative system was developed under the directives of Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, by specialized Bahraini competencies within the Council's General Secretariat, with the participation of experts combining legislative, legal, technical, digital and specialized expertise. She said this contributed to developing a system based on an integrated understanding of legislative work and the needs of its users, while creating opportunities for innovation based on the volume and quality of available data.
She added that work continues to advance parliamentary work towards the smart parliament through a range of digital initiatives and projects supporting the development of technical services that underpin legislative work, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of its tools and building on the national achievements of the Shura Council.
