Muscat: Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), participated in the Oman Climate Week 2026, organised by the Environment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman, in cooperation with international organisations and academic institutions. The event included dialogue sessions and specialised scientific conferences covering waste management, the circular economy, and renewable energy.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Rumaihi emphasised the importance of continuing to strengthen regional cooperation and integrating efforts to address climate challenges, as well as launching quality initiatives and programmes at the regional and international levels. These efforts are aimed at contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing adaptation to the impacts of climate change.
Al Rumaihi highlighted the significance of such regional platforms in enhancing the integration of efforts and exchanging expertise among countries and relevant institutions. She reviewed initiatives and innovative solutions in environmental and climate fields, as well as the latest environmental practices, technologies, and solutions.
She welcomed the announcement of a cooperation programme between the Environment Authority, Petroleum Development Oman, the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, and the Research and Innovation Authority in the Sultanate of Oman to establish the Environmental Innovation Centre. She affirmed the importance of the initiative in building an ecosystem that supports environmental innovation and entrepreneurship, incubating quality ideas and projects, and accelerating their development to address environmental challenges and support the environmental economy and Sustainable Development Goals.
Al Rumaihi commended the high level of organisation of Oman Climate Week 2026 and its role in bringing together officials and experts to exchange knowledge and discuss developments in the environmental and climate fields. She also highlighted the depth of ties between Bahrain and Oman and the growing cooperation between the two countries in these fields, affirming the Kingdom's keenness to support regional platforms that strengthen joint efforts and contribute to achieving shared environmental and climate objectives.
