Riyadh: Saudi Armed Forces, in coordination with the U.S. Central Command, conducted precision strikes against militia targets in Iraq linked to attacks on the Kingdom's oil facilities. Major General Turki Al Malki, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announced that these strikes were in response to terrorist attacks originating from Iraqi territory and carried out by Iran-backed militias. These attacks had previously been intercepted by Saudi air defences on July 27 and 28, 2026.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the strikes were executed on July 29 under the right of self-defence, as recognised by Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The targeted militias were linked to the attacks on oil facilities in the Eastern and Riyadh regions of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom has emphasized its right to defend itself and its national assets, while also reserving the right to respond at its discretion.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reiterated that it does not seek escalation but remains committed to responding decisively to any aggression against it.
