Saudi Arabia Urges Security Council to Take Decisive Action on Houthi Aggression

Manama: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the terrorist and criminal attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi militia, targeting civilian and economic facilities in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, which resulted in 73 civilians being injured, including women and children.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this came in a speech delivered by Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during the emergency session held by the UN Security Council to discuss the terrorist Houthi militia's attacks against the Kingdom.

Dr. Alwasil warned of the seriousness of the Houthi escalation and its repercussions for regional security, stressing that these attacks target not only the Kingdom's security, citizens, and assets, but also constitute a threat to international navigation and trade in the Red Sea and the Bab Al Mandab Strait.

He called on the UN Security Council to adopt a clear and firm stance towards these attacks, thereby fulfilling the Council's responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.

Dr. Alwasil stressed the need to ensure the full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions and to halt all forms of support that enable the terrorist Houthi militia to continue its hostile conduct and attacks, which threaten regional security and international shipping lanes.

He affirmed the Kingdom's legitimate right to defend itself and protect its security, sovereignty, citizens, residents on its territory, and national assets, in accordance with the UN Charter and the provisions of international law.

Dr. Alwasil reaffirmed the Kingdom's steadfast position towards the Republic of Yemen, based on preserving its unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, stressing the Kingdom's continued support for reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the Yemeni crisis, led by Yemenis, in a manner that achieves security and stability and fulfils the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
