Land Transport and Post Undersecretary Engages in Gulf Green Mobility Dialogue in Salalah

Salalah: Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, took part in the "Gulf Green Mobility System Lab" workshop. This event was held in conjunction with the second Gulf Green Mobility Forum in Salalah, Oman, gathering transport and sustainability experts from GCC nations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Dhaen emphasized the necessity of enhancing Gulf collaboration on green mobility. She advocated for the exchange of expertise and the development of more efficient and sustainable transport solutions, emphasizing the increased utilization of modern technology and clean energy.

She highlighted Bahrain's initiatives in sustainable transport, pointing to efforts by the ministry to enhance the efficiency of the land transport system. This includes promoting public and shared transport and leveraging digital and smart solutions to improve service delivery.

The workshop concentrated on two principal areas. The first area addressed the policies and regulations governing electric vehicle charging, focusing on the legal and regulatory frameworks for charging stations. It also covered the integration of charging systems with smart grids and the management of electricity loads to foster sustainable growth in electric vehicle usage.

The second area explored the use of green hydrogen in heavy transport and logistics. Discussions centered on the infrastructure required to support hydrogen use, alongside potential policies and incentives to boost demand for hydrogen in transport, thereby creating a conducive environment for its future applications.
