Manama: European Union sugar production is forecast to drop 19% to 13.4 million tonnes in the new season, down from 16.6 million tonnes in the current season, according to the EU Sugar Market Observatory.
According to Bahrain News Agency, EU sugar imports are expected to rise to 2.35 million tonnes from 1.73 million tonnes, while average sugar beet yields are forecast to decline 11.5%. This shift in production and import levels highlights significant changes in the EU's sugar market dynamics.
Sugar production in France, the EU's largest producer, is expected to drop 15%. This decline will likely have implications for both domestic and international markets, affecting supply chains and possibly influencing sugar prices.
