Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has expressed its approval of the statement released by the United Nations Security Council, which condemns the missile attacks executed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia. The statement also addressed the targeting of commercial vessels and emphasized the importance of adhering to international law, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, and ensuring the safety of maritime navigation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted Bahrain's unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures taken by the kingdom to protect its sovereignty and interests. This support is rooted in the strong historical ties between the two nations and aligned with the GCC Joint Defence Agreement. The Ministry emphasized that the security of Saudi Arabia is intrinsically linked to the security of Bahrain and the entire GCC region.
The Ministry acknowledged Saudi Arabia's diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives, particularly its leadership in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen. These efforts aim to foster a political solution based on the GCC Initiative, the National Dialogue Conference outcomes, and relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216. The Ministry also praised Saudi Arabia's role in forming a maritime defense coalition to enhance security and protect global trade and energy supplies.
Reaffirming its stance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community, through Bahrain's non-permanent membership on the UN Security Council, to take decisive action against terrorist attacks that jeopardize maritime navigation and international trade. The call aims to uphold international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and pertinent Security Council resolutions to ensure regional stability and peace.
