Manama: The United Arab Emirates: has strongly condemned and denounced the hostile Iranian attack that targeted a tanker affiliated with ADNOC with a missile as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, with no injuries reported.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which stressed freedom of navigation and rejected the targeting of commercial vessels or disruption of international maritime routes. It stressed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic pressure or blackmail constitutes acts of piracy by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and poses a direct threat to the stability of the region and its peoples and to global energy security.
The UAE stressed the need for Iran to halt these hostile attacks in a manner that ensures its full commitment to a cessation of all hostilities and the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait, thereby safeguarding regional security and the stability of the global economy and trade.
