Manama: Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, toured the pharmacy automation project at Salmaniya Medical Complex to review the project's progress and implementation phases. The project forms part of efforts to develop pharmaceutical services and advance digital transformation in the health sector.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of the Government Hospitals administration, was present during the tour. The minister was briefed on the project's components, which aim to establish advanced infrastructure to support the adoption of the latest automation technologies in pharmaceutical services. She commended the efforts to enhance healthcare services in line with the latest international technologies.
Dr. Al Jalahma highlighted that the pharmacy automation project is one of the initiatives supporting the ongoing development of the health sector. It reflects the drive to adopt modern technologies and innovation to improve the efficiency of healthcare services. She emphasized that the project will contribute to enhancing the quality of patient care while achieving the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.
She noted that the project includes the installation of robotic medication dispensing systems in the outpatient pharmacy, the provision of automated medication dispensing cabinets in hospital wards, and the implementation of smart systems to manage and monitor pharmaceutical inventory across the hospital. Dr. Al Jalahma stated that these advancements will improve the efficiency and speed of medication dispensing services, enhance the accuracy of pharmaceutical inventory management, and strengthen governance and oversight of medication movement.
Additionally, Dr. Al Jalahma explained that the project is part of the Government Hospitals' strategy to modernize the infrastructure of pharmaceutical services and adopt digital solutions that support the continued development of the work environment. This will improve the patient experience and mark a qualitative shift in medication management and dispensing mechanisms, enhancing operational efficiency and improving the quality of healthcare services in line with international best practices.
