Manama: The State of Kuwait has issued a strong condemnation of the claims made by the Houthi militia's military spokesperson against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These claims have also included threats aimed at maritime security and the freedom of navigation, which are critical for the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement urging the international community to enforce the United Nations Security Council resolutions pertinent to the situation. Specifically, the ministry highlighted the importance of Resolution 2216, which addresses the conflict in Yemen, and Resolution 2722, concerning the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
The ministry reiterated that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a fundamental right enshrined in international law and supported by the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. It also expressed Kuwait's unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, backing all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security and sovereignty. Kuwait emphasized that the security of Saudi Arabia is closely linked to the security of Kuwait and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
