Manama: The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) held its first regular meeting of its sixth term, chaired by Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Council. At the outset of the meeting, the Chairman and Council members expressed their gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for issuing Order (21) of 2026 restructuring the Council, affirming their commitment to continue advancing its mission and objectives.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Council extended congratulations to His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the royal family, the government, the people of Bahrain, and the Islamic nation on the approaching Hijri New Year 1448 AH. The Council commended Bahrain's continued support for religious observances, particularly the Ashoora season, and praised government efforts, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to ensure its successful organisation. It called on scholars and officials of ma'atems and hussainiyas to preserve the religious character of the occasion, uphold social stability, and adhere to laws and regulations.
The Council also congratulated Bahraini pilgrims on their safe return following Hajj and commended the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving pilgrims and ensuring the success of this year's Hajj season. It further congratulated outstanding students on their academic achievements and highlighted the government's efforts to enhance educational outcomes, while encouraging parents to engage their children in beneficial summer activities.
During the meeting, the Council formed its principal committees, reviewed and approved a recommendation submitted by the Sharia Opinion Committee, and launched its redesigned website, aimed at enhancing digital services and access to Council information and publications: www.almajles.gov.bh. The meeting concluded with a review of reports, correspondence, and other agenda items, with the necessary decisions taken accordingly.
