Doha: His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, received Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on discussing regional and international updates, with particular emphasis on the developments in the Middle East, notably the situation in the Gaza Strip and the Republic of Lebanon amidst ongoing escalation and its humanitarian and security repercussions.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions also addressed the impact of the escalation on regional security, especially concerning the security of international maritime navigation and the stability of global energy markets. Both sides highlighted the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies and enhancing security and stability in vital maritime routes.
The meeting further delved into strengthening the strategic partnership between Qatar and the European Union. The State of Qatar's role as a reliable partner in supporting global energy security, including the supply of liquefied natural gas to international markets, was affirmed.
Additionally, the discussions explored the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy, trade, and investment sectors, aiming to promote mutual interests.
