Kuwait Rolls Out Pilot Mobile Emergency Alert System

Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Center for Government Communication (CGC) announced the experimental launch of a cellular-based emergency alert system to notify the public of imminent or occurring hazards.

According to Bahrain News Agency, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the CGC, via its official account on the social media platform 'X', detailed that the initial phase of the pilot is currently compatible with Android and Huawei operating systems. Support for Apple's iOS devices is slated for integration in an upcoming technical stage.

The Center clarified that the warning mechanism utilises a three-tier hierarchical alert protocol. The Emergency Level is the highest priority tier, triggering a distinctive high-volume warning tone to signal urgent danger. The Alert Level is a secondary tier that disseminates warning notifications in a format similar to Short Message Service (SMS). The Advisory Level is a tertiary tier utilised for silent informative messages.

CGC further underscored that the system offers full user autonomy, allowing individuals to customise notification preferences or opt out through their device settings as required.
