Manama: Shaikh Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed bin Futtais Al Hajri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council, emphasised that the council has implemented a group of charitable projects during the Holy Month of Ramadhan, as part of its mission to promote the values of social solidarity.
According to Bahrain News Agency, among the most prominent initiatives is the Food Aid project targeting 200 families, providing vouchers for basic food items from a commercial outlet. Additionally, the Ramadhan Banquets (Family Iftar) project benefits 600 families through food vouchers to help meet their needs during the Holy Month.
Regarding bringing joy to children, he noted that the Eid Al Fitr Clothing project targets 1,000 children by providing clothing vouchers for each family from a commercial outlet. He added that the Directorate also implemented the Iftar Sa'em project (for expatriate communities), benefiting 2,000 fasting individuals daily, in cooperation with community centres to prepare Iftar tables.
Shaikh Dr. Al Hajri also noted the implementation of the "Maa' Sabeel" project, which involves the distribution of approximately one million water bottles (nearly 40,000 cartons) to mosques across the Kingdom throughout Ramadhan. He highlighted the community partnership project with charitable societies, which included support for 10 charitable entities to support their Ramadhan projects and diversify charitable initiatives, contributing to integration and community partnership.
The chairman emphasised that these projects stem from the Council's keenness to fulfil the conditions of the endowment donors and disburse revenues according to the donors' conditions and Sharia provisions. This directs funds to their deserving channels, reinforcing the mission of endowments in social solidarity and establishing a culture of giving during the Holy Month.
