Qatar Sends Letters to UN and Security Council Over Iranian Attacks

New york: The State of Qatar sent identical letters to Ant³nio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, and to Michael Waltz, President of the Security Council for the month of March (the Permanent Representative of the United States), which included updates on the Iranian attack targeting Qatari territory.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar stated that Sheikha Alya Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN, affirmed in the letter that this attack constitutes a flagrant violation of Qatar's national sovereignty, a direct infringement of its security and territorial integrity, and a rejected escalation that threatens the security and stability of the entire region.

The letter reviewed the details of the ongoing attacks, referring to statistics from the Ministry of Defence of Qatar, which recorded to date a total of three cruise missiles, 101 ballistic missiles, 39 drones, and two SU-24 fighter aircraft.

The letter confirmed the success of the Qatari Armed Forces in intercepting three cruise missiles, 98 ballistic missiles, 24 drones, in addition to the two fighter aircraft, stressing that the Armed Forces possess full capabilities and capacities to safeguard the State's sovereignty and to firmly confront any external threat.

The State of Qatar concluded its letter by renewing its strong condemnation of these attacks, affirming that it reserves its full right to respond in accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, in a manner proportionate to the nature of the attack, in defence of its national interests, and called for the circulation of the letter as an official document of the Security Council.
