HM King of Bahrain Ratifies Two New Laws Following Legislative Approval

Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today focused on events that happened over the past 24 hours. HM King of Bahrain has ratified and issued Law (1) and Law (2) of 2026 after receiving approval from both the Shura and Representatives Councils.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister engaged in several significant meetings, including discussions with newly appointed directors across various government entities. Additionally, HRH met with the Minister of Culture from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the newly appointed Commander of the UK Maritime Component Command in the Middle East. Another important meeting involved talks with the Global Head of Starlink Aviation at SpaceX.

In a separate event, HM King deputised HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to represent Bahrain at the opening ceremony of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship. HH Shaikh Nasser highlighted the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst's role in training military leaders.

Elsewhere, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad engaged with the Football Association board, while the Foreign Ministry held a meeting with the European External Action Service. The Foreign Minister took part in events marking the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence.

Further developments included bilateral meetings by the Housing Minister at the Future Real Estate Forum 2026 in Riyadh and a discussion session led by the Education Minister with participants of the Prime Minister's Fellowship Programme. The Youth Minister also welcomed the Nepalese Ambassador, and the Industry Minister met with the US Ambassador.

The Transportation Minister attended the 4th Sustainability Forum Middle East and received the UN Resident Coordinator in Bahrain. The Works Ministry announced upgrades to the abnormal load permit application service, and Bahrain participated in a Security Council session on international rule of law.

Additionally, both the Speaker and the Shura Chairman marked the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence. A significant agreement was signed between Bahrain and the US on cultural heritage cooperation, and Bahrain hosted the fourth edition of the Sustainability Forum Middle East. Finally, Bahrain assumed the 2026 chairmanship of the Arab Group at UNESCO.
