Chairman of King Hamad Global Center Engages with IPU Secretary General

Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, received Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to enhancing cooperation and strategic partnership with the IPU. This collaboration focuses on capacity building, improving legislative frameworks, and developing educational and training programs aimed at empowering youth, promoting tolerance and peace, and countering hate speech.

The discussions between the two leaders included joint programs and initiatives dedicated to promoting coexistence and dialogue, as outlined in their memorandum of understanding. This involves activating cooperation through the center's participation in the 151st Assembly of the IPU in Geneva and other parliamentary conferences, collaborating on the "Science for Peace Schools" initiative, utilizing artificial intelligence to support legislative and executive institutions, and working toward the creation of a global humanitarian document on coexistence, to achieve a more peaceful and prosperous world.

The IPU Secretary General, Martin Chungong, expressed his appreciation for Bahrain's efforts and the contributions of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance in fostering a culture of peace and dialogue among civilizations. He commended the support provided to parliamentary and educational institutions in promoting the values of dialogue, understanding, and human fraternity at both regional and international levels, and wished the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity.
