Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, issued a statement noting that a series of recent meetings had been held with the executive authority to discuss initiatives and measures aimed at enhancing the Kingdom of Bahrain's public finances.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Speaker Al Musallam commended the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which place the Bahraini citizen at the center of national priorities. He referred to the statement issued on December 16 by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, implementing the directives on the continuation of electricity and water services for citizens' first homes.
He stated that an agreement had been reached with the government delegation on several initiatives and measures to support the state budget and fund services for low-and middle-income groups. However, he noted that differences remained over certain details related to the mechanism for applying electricity and water services.
The Speaker added that, pending the outcome of the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday, 29 December, he urged members of the Council of Representatives to refrain from issuing premature statements or positions on the matter. This caution was advised to ensure that the Council conducts a careful and thorough review of the decisions to be taken, ensuring their positions are based on accurate information and careful consideration.
