Saudi Crown Prince and Amir of Qatar Witness Agreement for High-Speed Rail Project

Riyadh: His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, attended the signing of the agreement to implement the high-speed electric railway project between the two countries, on the sidelines of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreement was signed by Saleh Al Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services of Saudi Arabia, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of Transport of Qatar. This collaboration aims to establish a strategic partnership that enhances cooperation and fosters joint development integration projects between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, contributing to sustainable development in the region.

The high-speed railway, stretching 785 kilometres, will connect Riyadh and Doha, with key stops in Hofuf and Dammam. It will also provide direct links to King Salman International Airport and Hamad International Airport. The railway is designed to improve the travel experience and facilitate movement between the two capitals, with trains traveling at speeds exceeding 300 kilometres per hour, thereby reducing the journey time to approximately two hours.
