GCC Journalists Explore Initiatives at GCC Secretariat-General Pavilion


Manama: Journalists attending the 46th GCC Summit in the Kingdom visited the GCC Secretariat-General pavilion at the Bahrain National Museum. The visit was part of the media centre programme accompanying the summit, providing an opportunity to learn about the joint Gulf action and the Secretariat-General’s initiatives that enhance integration among member states.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the journalists explored the pavilion, which highlights the historical developments, projects, and initiatives of the Council over the past four decades. Key projects include the Gulf electricity interconnection project, the customs union, and initiatives supporting joint Gulf markets. Waleed Al Humood, Head of the Secretariat-General pavilion accompanying the summit, stated that the pavilion offers a comprehensive overview of the Council’s journey and achievements. It highlights cooperation across various sectors such as economic, industrial, agricultural, security, and service among member states.

ined that the pavilion consists of nine specialised exhibition areas, covering over 40 main topics and 120 sub-topics. The pavilion’s displays focus on various domains of cooperation and showcase practical achievements, providing visitors with a complete picture of the Council’s history and progress. The pavilion is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm and will remain open until December 16, in alignment with the Kingdom’s National Days celebrations.

Kuwaiti journalist Barakat Al Wuqayan praised the organisation of the visit, stressing its role in familiarising media representatives with the achievements of the GCC states. He noted that the pavilion features presentations on women’s empowerment, infrastructure projects like railways and transport hubs, and cooperation in health and education. Additionally, it covers the unified entry visa and commercial licensing systems that facilitate business operations for Gulf citizens across member states, thereby enhancing trade.

Saudi journalist Mohammed Al Shahrani remarke
d that the pavilion encapsulates all achievements of the GCC since its inception, highlighting joint Gulf action in sectors such as economic, commercial, industrial, agricultural cooperation, food security, electricity interconnection, military collaboration, and e-government initiatives. The exhibition aims to educate students, academics, and raise media awareness of the development across GCC states.
