Speaker Acknowledges Role of Journalism in National Development

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, received Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA). Al Musallam emphasized that national journalism is a key pillar in supporting national efforts and highlighting the country's achievements, under the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in line with the directives and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam commended the pivotal role of Bahraini journalism, with its long-standing history in informing public opinion, noting it is a strategic partner in supporting parliamentary work. He highlighted its national and professional commitment to responsibly practicing freedom of opinion and expression, presenting accurate reporting, and fulfilling its duties with objectivity and credibility.

The Speaker congratulated the BJA and all media professionals on the issuance of the Press and Electronic Media Law, following its approval by the legislative authority. He said the new law marks an advanced phase for Bahraini journalism, strengthening its ability to pursue its mission in line with national principles and modern requirements, and enhancing the status of national media.

Al Musallam highlighted the parliament's commitment to developing the media legislative framework and achieving national objectives. He valued the efforts of the BJA in developing media professionals and improving media content, contributing to public awareness and serving the community.

For his part, Al Shaiji thanked the Speaker for his continued support and commitment to enhancing the role of national journalism and strengthening communication and cooperation that advances the progress of the Kingdom.
