Brussels: Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, participated in the 10th meeting of Arab League Permanent Representatives and Ambassadors of the European Union Political and Security Committee, held in Brussels.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was part of the ongoing strategic dialogue between the Arab League and the EU, initiated under the 2014 Athens Declaration. It addressed several regional and international issues of mutual interest, focusing on coordinating positions and enhancing effective partnerships between Arab countries and the EU.
Both the Arab League Council at the representatives' level and the EU Political and Security Committee underscored their commitment to multilateral cooperation and adherence to international law, the UN Charter, and its purposes and principles, including the peaceful settlement of disputes.
The committee welcomed an agreement on the first phase of the plan by United States President Donald Trump to halt the war in the Gaza Strip, urging all parties to fully implement the agreement without delay. This would facilitate a lasting ceasefire and ensure the sustainable delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid throughout Gaza. They also recalled the high-level conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic in New York, emphasizing support for political solutions in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen.
