Cairo: Ebtesam Mohamed Saleh Al Dallal, a member of the Services Committee at the Shura Council and the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee of the Arab Parliament, took part in a workshop held in Cairo. Organized by the Arab Parliament in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the workshop focused on the model law adopted by the Arab Parliament to regulate and prevent food supply chain losses and waste.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Dallal emphasized Bahrain's dedication to supporting Arab initiatives and projects that bolster food security and environmental sustainability. This commitment is seen as a contribution to enhancing Arab integration in development and economic sectors. Al Dallal highlighted that this approach mirrors Bahrain's intent to develop legislation and policies aimed at boosting food production while minimizing waste and loss throughout supply chains.
She explained that the workshop aligns with Bahrain's backing of Arab and international efforts to fortify food security and achieve sustainable development. The exchange of legislative expertise among Arab nations is considered crucial for establishing legal frameworks that aim to reduce food loss and waste and improve supply chain efficiency.
Al Dallal pointed out that the model law signifies an important initiative by the Arab Parliament to unify legislative efforts across the region, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 2, which seeks to end hunger. She stressed the necessity of adopting comprehensive national policies that link production, distribution, and responsible consumption, while promoting sustainable practices within the food sector.
She praised the Arab Parliament's role in fostering joint parliamentary action by creating model laws that enhance Arab food security and cooperation among member states to tackle economic and social challenges related to food, water, and the environment.
