New york: The Kingdom of Bahrain reiterated its firm support for the Palestinian people's inalienable rights and the pursuit of a political process leading to an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution, relevant UN resolutions, and international law. The Kingdom also affirmed its support for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the statement was delivered by Ambassador Nancy Abdulla Jamal, member of Bahrain's Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, during the Security Council's open debate on "The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question" (MEPQ), chaired by Russia.
Ambassador Jamal highlighted recent regional diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving peace and security, including the "Comprehensive Gaza Agreement" and the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit to end the conflict in Gaza. She praised Saudi Arabia and France for their roles in organising last September's International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue in New York, which adopted the "New York Declaration."
She emphasised Bahrain's commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue and negotiation, highlighting the Kingdom's readiness to collaborate with the international community to build a safe and prosperous future for the region and the wider world.
