National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons Highlights Bahrain’s Continued Success in Anti-Trafficking Efforts

Manama: The National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons convened a meeting led by Nibras Talib, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Chief Executive Officer and Committee Chairman, to discuss Bahrain's ongoing efforts in combating trafficking in persons.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Talib emphasized Bahrain's significant achievements, notably the Kingdom's retention of Tier 1 status in the United States Department of State's Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report for the eighth consecutive year. He also noted the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Prosecution's receipt of the Excellence Award from the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) for its role in justice and victim protection.

Talib stated that these successes drive the continuous advancement of Bahrain's efforts to maintain a stable and fair labor environment. He commended the collaboration of government entities within a framework that supports protection, prevention, and judicial enforcement mechanisms.

He elaborated on LMRA's recent initiatives, such as the upgraded Wage Protection System, which focuses on safeguarding national workers' rights and ensuring their stability in a just and secure environment. Additionally, the signing of the second phase of cooperation with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) for 2025-2028 aims to bolster the Regional Training Centre for Combating Trafficking in Persons, enhancing Bahrain's efforts by leveraging global expertise.

The committee also examined the outcomes of national efforts in identifying trafficking cases and the steps taken to ensure justice in line with existing laws and regulations.

Committee members emphasized the necessity of ongoing joint cooperation to combat illegal practices in the labor market, reinforcing Bahrain's prominent regional and international position in the fight against trafficking in persons.
