Kuwait city: Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, met with Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), to discuss the launch of a new report by the Shura Council Secretariat General promoting sustainability in legislative work.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the report, the first of its kind among legislative bodies worldwide, reviews the Council's performance during the sixth legislative term in areas of environment, governance, and society. Al Abbasi stated the report draws inspiration from the Royal speeches of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, serving as a roadmap for advancing legislative achievements and supporting Bahrain's progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in alignment with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. She acknowledged the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for promoting institutional excellence and balancing economic growth with social and legislative sustainability.
On the sidelines of the 151st IPU General Assembly, Al Abbasi presented the report to Chungong, highlighting the Secretariat General's commitment to sharing expertise, advancing digital transformation, and integrating artificial intelligence in legislative support systems. Chungong praised the Secretariat General for preparing a quality report that reflects Bahrain's dedication to sustainable development and innovation in parliamentary work, describing it as a leading model in digital governance and institutional development.
