Manama: Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, announced that the ministry has completed the allocation of the first phase of projects under the residential plot and construction financing option, provided through the "Tasheel" programme, across several developments in different governorates of the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, preparations are now underway to roll out 804 new housing services, including residential plots and construction loans, in successive batches across all governorates during November and December. Beneficiaries of the residential plot and construction financing scheme will begin receiving official notifications from next month, with allocations continuing until the end of December. The ministry is committed to ensuring a smooth and timely process for all recipients.
Work is progressing rapidly on infrastructure development across nine major housing projects under the residential plot and construction scheme. A significant number of contracts for infrastructure services have already been awarded, which will help accelerate completion rates and enable faster delivery of plots to eligible citizens.
Additional residential plots will be made available in the next phase of the programme, once infrastructure works reach advanced stages in various parts of the country. The allocation and handover of plots are linked to the readiness of each project. Once a project's infrastructure is complete, beneficiaries are invited to take part in an electronic draw to select their plot. The plots are then handed over, followed by the disbursement of a BD 40,000 construction loan through the "Tasheel" programme.
The ministry has completed the delivery of housing solutions for requests dating back to 2004 and earlier, in line with its plan to address longstanding applications. These include the full "Tasheel" financing package worth BD 70,000, accompanied by a BD 10,000 non-refundable grant, as well as ownership apartments supported by a BD 3,000 grant. All eligible ownership apartments have now been allocated to citizens who opted for this option.
Addressing older housing requests remains one of the ministry's foremost priorities, reflecting its commitment to providing suitable housing for citizens and accelerating access to the available options. All housing applications, particularly those dating back to 2004 and earlier, continue to form the foundation of the ministry's work in both the current and upcoming stages. The ministry is focused on diversifying its housing programmes and introducing greater flexibility to ensure citizens receive their housing services as quickly as possible, in line with the goals set out in the Government Programme 2023-2026.
